ACHSM is a professional membership organisation that is set up to promote innovation and excellence in health leadership and management.
It’s goals are to provide development and networking opportunities for health managers, to advocate for and promote the health management profession, to recognise the achievements of health managers and promote innovation and excellence amongst its members.
One of the focuses of the college is to create a national professional development strategy to articulate purpose, benefits and guiding principles for the development and delivery of services. This strategy also highlights the role of management competency frameworks to inform professional development activities for more targeted learning outcomes.
With this in mind, the VIC branch set out to deliver to the college a professional development survey, which would identify gaps for managers at varying levels of competency and recommend development activities to fill the skills gap where one existed.
DCA designed a web enabled, competency self-assessment tool in line with ACHSM’s requirements.
The solution was developed utilising Internet Information Service (IIS), Microsoft SQL Server and .NET The framework is made up of two main component suites including a website front end and a back-end system administration tool. This allowed administrators from the college to update and verify the content.
DCA built the solution then installed it on ACHSM’s infrastructure and continues to provide on-going support.
The provided solution was sufficiently flexible so that ACHSM could manage the content and scoring without requiring/involving internal technical intervention, saving time and money.
As part of DCA’s engagement methodology, the stakeholders from ACHSM and DCA were able to fully exchange requirements and integrate the solution into ACHSM’s business.
The project was delivered within the expected time frame and projected cost.
